ARTICLE Murder, Forensic Sciences and Media: A case report
ABSTRACT
To beable to explain ascientific subject in communication media; requires expertise beyond being a journalist or scientist. Science communication is an issue whose importance is increasingly recognized today. Scientists now want their work not only to be heard by more people, but also to lead to progress by causing discussion in society and influential focal points. A second purpose of science communication is to acquire new scientists who will work in the desired academic field and to provide funds for studies. Science communication; Apartfrom accelerating the forward development of the society, providing funds for new scientists and academic studies, it also aims to propose correct solutions to current problems as its third purpose. Our aim is to draw attention to the importance of scientific communication in television by opening a discussion about a murder issue that has been talked about live for months in a "Reality Show" program. When a murder case that was committed brutally in 2001 and occupied the public's agenda for decades and shook the belief in justice because it could not be solved, was discussed in all its dimensions in the national media every day for months, the case was reopened and new scientific evidence was reached. It is clearly seen that the correct establishment of scientific communication in thenational media on forensic sciences will accelerate the development in this subject.
