ARTICLE Drug-Induced Rhabdomyolysis: Statin
ABSTRACT Statins are among the drugs of choice in the first-line treatment of hyperlipidemia. Rhabdomyolysis, a well-known side effect of statin therapy, is a syndrome of muscle cell necrosis and releasing cell contents into the intravenous area. Patients consult with myalgia muscle weakness and dark-colored urine complaints. It is known that advanced age, diabetes, hypothyroidism, polypharmacy, and renal failure increase the risk of statin-associated rhabdomyolysis.
