ARTICLE Exercise Approaches in Sarcopenic Obesity
ABSTRACT The prevalence of sarcopenic obesity is rising worldwide—especially among decaying populations. The decrease in skeletal muscle mass and function (sarcopenia) and the increase in fat mass (obesity) are problems that worsen the prognosis of chronic diseases and significantly contribute to the development of physical limitations. The combination of the two conditions, called sarcopenic obesity, is an important risk factor that further increases the likelihood of adverse health problems. In the literature, the importance of preventing and/or treating sarcopenic obesity is emphasized in many clinical studies.
