ARTICLE Founding A Cochlear Implant Program: Challenges And Solutions
ABSTRACT Cochlear implantation (CI), the first choice for hearing recovery in patients with severe and profound sensorineural hearing loss, requires a team in multidisciplinary sciences with an unremitting process. Although the surgery is performed in specialized Otorhinolaryngology clinics, ongoing support from non-clinical disciplines is also received. Each of the preoperative and postoperative steps requires a unique care and scientific approach. This paper studies the requirements for setting up an adequate and ongoing cochlear implant program.
