ABSTRACT Aim: In this study, first of all, literature review on the practices in the world and in Turkey was conducted in terms of the general procedures of the conceptual framework of waste, solid waste management and municipal solid waste management. Then, it is aimed to determine the occupational health and safety hazards and risks during waste management and waste separation, collection, storage and disposal in solid waste facilities and to determine what kind of measures can be taken against these risks. Materials and Methods: From this point of view, the aim of the study is to determine the hazards that may be encountered in the collection, separation, storage and disposal of solid wastes by municipalities and to bring the risks to an acceptable level as a result of risk analysis. It has been observed that people working in solid waste facilities have a high risk of occupational accidents due to reasons such as long working hours, intense work tempo and lack of education/information.
