ARTICLE Mechanical Analysis of 3D Printed Biocomposite AFOs
ABSTRACT Aim: The aim is to produce custom Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFO) with biocompatible materials compared to traditional orthotic manufacturing materials, perform tensile strength analysis, and compare them with traditional AFOs. Methods: Initially, traditional AFO materials were subjected to a tensile test. Following the test information, materials demonstrating similar tensile strength were researched, and biocomposite filaments with different mixture ratios of Polylactic acid (PLA) / Polycaprolactone (PCL) were obtained. Mechanical test specimens were produced from the filaments using a 3-dimensional printer.
